Although your cortisol is naturally higher in the mornings than in the evenings, checking your phone immediately can spike your cortisol even further.

When you look at your phone, you’re bombarded with news stories, emails, and social media notifications. This can leave you feeling stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed before your day has even begun.

It Causes An Immediate Distraction

When you’re mindlessly scrolling on your phone, time can quickly pass by. Before you know it, you’ve been lying in bed for an extra 30 minutes. This is a huge distraction to your morning and delays productivity and/or can take away time from self-care that could have set you up for a great day.
