Dark vs. milk chocolate

Not all types of chocolate are created equal. There are a number of key differences between dark chocolate and milk chocolate, aside from the obvious difference in taste.

The main difference between dark chocolate and milk chocolate is the ingredient profile.

Generally, dark chocolate is plant-based as it does not contain any milk or cream. Instead, dark chocolate is produced from the cacao tree, and it retains many of the natural antioxidants and plant nutrients during the manufacturing process. This is contrasted with milk chocolate, which often has a number of additional ingredients, including sugar to sweeten the taste of the natural bitterness of cacao.

While it’s okay to eat milk chocolate occasionally, dark chocolate is a healthier choice. If you’re trying to make healthier dietary decisions, opt for dark chocolate over milk chocolate and remember to enjoy it in moderation.
