How Much Should My Kids Be Exercising and How Do I Help Them?

When you’re a parent, you want to give your children the best possible start to life. Part of this involves knowing how active your kids should be and finding ways to help them meet their exercise needs.

So, how much exercise should your children be doing? The answer to this question depends on the age of your children.

For pre-school-aged children, it’s recommended that they stay active for most of the day, exploring the world around them. Children aged between six and 17 should complete around 60 minutes of exercise a day.  However, this doesn’t need to be completed in one session. In fact, most active children will accumulate more than an hour of movement every day just by playing.

As a parent or caregiver, you can encourage your kids to move more by exercising with them. Join in with their playtime and set a great example for your children to follow.

Create a fun outdoor game that involves running, jumping, hopping, or skipping. This keeps you and your kids active and enables you to spend quality time with one another.
