How to know it's time to change your exercise routine
Exercise is an important part of physical and mental health. However, to reap the benefits it is important to stay consistent and engage in physical activity regularly. If you find you are losing motivation to exercise it could be because your workouts no longer feel fun or interesting anymore.
Here are some common reasons why you might be bored with your exercise plan.
- You’ve been doing the same type of exercise for a long time with little variety
- You’re doing the same exercises in the same order every time you work out
- The exercises you are doing are now too easy for you, and you don’t feel challenged in your workouts
- You are finding it lonely working out by yourself but you don’t currently have a workout partner
So, how can you get out of a rut and switch things up? Here are some great ways you can add variety and start enjoying your workouts once again.
- Spice up your workouts by trying out some new exercises
- Work out at a different time of the day
- Take your workout routine outside
- If you focus primarily on strength training, add cardio to your program. If you normally stick to cardio, add a full-body resistance training session to your routine.
- Set a new and specific exercise goal that you can work towards
- Grab a friend to be your workout buddy to enjoy social time while you exercise
- Put together a playlist full of your favorite, motivational music
