Is it ok to stand up while eating?

In our busy lives meals are often rushed, and we may end up standing to eat. Is this ok?

There are pros and cons to standing up when you’re eating a meal or snack. There isn’t anything wrong from a physical perspective with standing up while eating. In fact, standing up after your meal may aid your digestive process and encourage food to move through your digestive tract faster but there is no evidence yet that suggests standing while eating facilitates this.

On the other hand, we tend to eat more quickly when standing and this can cause us to overeat as we miss our cues that we are full.

Finally, it is important to consider your comfort. You should always aim to be comfortable when you are eating so that you can enjoy the food as much as possible and feel satisfied by the end of your meal or snack.
