Is running bad for my knees?

In the past, it was commonly thought that running is bad for your knees. However, new research suggests a different story.

Research published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that running does not increase the risk of knee osteoarthritis and might even be beneficial for joint health for recreational runners.  This is great news for the vast majority of runners who enjoy this form of exercise. However, professional runners are at greater risk of developing the symptoms of osteoarthritis.

If you have pre-existing knee-related issues and you already experience pain in these joints, or if you’re unsure whether or not running is right for you, always speak to a healthcare professional for guidance.
