The essential tip when starting a new exercise program

Starting a new exercise program is always fun and exciting.  However, because we are usually feeling incredibly motivated and can’t wait to see results, we can also be more prone to overdoing things.

While it’s great to be passionate about improving your health and wellbeing, there is a point when doing too much comes at a risk.  In our excitement to embrace our new healthy habits we might work out too often or for too long.  This creates an unrealistic routine that is too hard to maintain and can cause us to abandon our exercise plans entirely.  It also puts us at greater risk of injury.

When starting a new exercise program it is important to set a realistic schedule that won’t cause you to feel physically or mentally drained.  Create a routine that suits your lifestyle and aligns with your current fitness levels, and make sure you take plenty of rest days to allow your body to recover properly.  For example, if you are new to exercise, start with working out twice per week, and slowly build from there.
