Tips for deepening connections with others

Developing deep connections with others benefits your social health and overall sense of wellbeing. Furthermore, not only does it positively impact your mental health, but having social connections is also associated with a stronger immune system.

Here are four tips for strengthening your bonds with other people.

  • Be an active listener.  This includes not interrupting when someone is speaking, listening without judgment and asking thoughtful questions.
  • Schedule quality time together. Find activities that everyone can enjoy together.
  • Be fully present. Try to minimize distractions when you are together and consider turning your phone off or to silent
  • If possible, try to see one another in person sometimes. Non-verbal communication can be lost in a text, phone or video call.
