Try this modified push-up to build strength

Push-ups might look easy because they do not require any special equipment. However, many gym beginners find push-ups very difficult to do. Push-ups require specific form and many of us need to build up our strength to complete them properly.

Even if you find push-ups difficult, don’t give up. They are a great exercise because they can be done just about anywhere and they help build strength throughout your upper body. Push-ups are a compound exercise that targets multiple muscles. They’re one of the most effective movements to work the pectoralis muscles (chest muscles) and triceps. They also target the biceps and shoulder muscles. .

So, if you struggle to do a full push-up, start with a wall push-up.  After you have built up your strength you can move on to an elevated (incline) push-up instead. Grab a bench or box and place it in front of you. Perform a push-up as you normally would on the floor but place your hands on the elevated surface before you start your set.

Elevating your upper body makes the push-up slightly easier because the angle reduces your weight as you move up and down during the exercise. Once you have perfected a full set of elevated push-ups, you can slowly work your way up to a set of full push-ups.
