What does being present really mean?

We hear the term ‘being present’ thrown around a lot nowadays. It’s particularly prevalent in the self-care and meditation space. But what does this term actually mean, and how can you learn to become more present in your life?

Being present means living in the moment. It means focusing on what is going on around you at the time instead of allowing your mind to wander into thoughts about the past or worries about the future. While being present sounds relatively easy to do, it’s something that many of us struggle with, especially those of us with anxiety or depression.

However, learning to be present can improve your quality of life and boost your health in all aspects. Activities such as meditation and journaling are great ways to start your journey into becoming more self-aware and more present.
