What is gut health?

Scientists have found an association between gut health and overall physical and mental wellness. Good gut health refers to having a well-balanced microbiome, with a diverse range of ‘good’ microbes and few ‘bad’ microbes.

Around 80% of your immune system resides in your gut, and between 90 to 95% of the serotonin in your body is produced in your intestines. So, if your gut health isn’t up to par, your whole body and brain can be impacted.

Your gut health can be affected by your diet, physical health, medications, stress levels, and exposure to environmental toxins. You can keep your gut healthy and happy by:

  • Optimizing your diet and exercise habits
  • Managing chronic health conditions
  • Avoiding long-term use of antibiotics
  • Lowering your stress
  • Minimizing your exposure to environmental toxins
