4 Tips to Help You Love Your Workouts
Exercise is extremely beneficial; however, that doesn’t mean it’s easy to stay motivated for your workouts.
Even if you genuinely enjoy exercise, life can get busy, and you might find that you struggle to stay in a regular exercise routine. If this is the case, don’t be too hard on yourself. Ebbs and flows in motivation are completely normal, especially when it comes to exercise.
If you’ve not been enjoying your workouts for the last few months, it's important to identify why. Maybe it’s time to switch things up, or maybe you need to remember why you’re exercising in the first place to regain your motivation and love for it.
Here are four top tips to help you start loving your workouts once again.
Find Activities That You Enjoy
If you’re doing exercise that you don’t enjoy, you’re probably not going to stay motivated to continue doing it for very long. If you suspect that your lack of motivation is because you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, switch things up.
Try different types of exercise to see which ones you enjoy the most. You might find a new favorite!
Exercise With Friends
Exercising with friends can help to hold you accountable when it comes to reaching health and fitness goals. Whether it’s your friends or people from your community, group workouts can encourage you to challenge yourself and try new forms of exercise that you wouldn’t otherwise have tried.
Team sports are a great way to find your mojo and fall in love with exercise again. Alternatively, grab a friend and head to the gym. You can try a couple’s HIIT workouts or do some strength training with one another.
Remember Why You Exercise
One of the best ways to start enjoying exercise once again is to remember your why. Think about why you want to exercise in the first place.
Maybe you exercise because you want to improve your long term healtht. Or maybe you work out so you can keep up with your kids. Whatever your reasons, keep your why in mind when you’re struggling to get up and move your body.
Change Up Your Routine
We can often get bored when we constantly do the same types of exercise. This can lead to a decrease in motivation and even cause you to stop working out altogether.
Consider which types of exercise you’ve never tried before or those that you’ve not done in a while. Simply switching up your routine could help you regain motivation and start loving your workouts once again. Plus, exercise variation can improve performance and muscle strength, too.
