5 tips for reducing your use of plastic
In 2019, the production of plastics contributed more than 850 million metric tonnes of greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere. When plastics have been used and thrown away, they end up in landfills, where they take many years to degrade. This contributes significantly to land pollution.
If you want to minimize your plastic usage, here are five top tips:
- Avoid single-use plastics and switch to items made out of alternative materials
- Use a reusable canvas bag when you go grocery shopping
- Buy more fresh food that doesn’t come in packages or plastic trays
- Reuse your plastic food storage or cutlery as many times as possible
- Recycle your plastic to ensure it doesn’t end up in landfills
