How to Take an Effective Nap
If you’re feeling chronically fatigued, it might be because you aren’t sleeping enough. Even if you spend eight hours in bed at night, that might not equate to eight full hours of high-quality sleep.
When you’re sleep-deprived, having a nap might be the answer. Napping provides lots of benefits, including reduced fatigue, increased relaxation, mproved memory, mood, and performance.
Here are some top tips to help you take an effective nap:
- Keep them short (20 minutes). Napping for too long can lead to you feeling even more tired than before.
- Find somewhere quiet and dark. Cutting out the light and keeping the noise to a minimum will increase your chances of drifting off into a relaxed sleep.
- Nap in the early afternoon. This is the best time to gain the benefits of napping without disrupting your nighttime sleep. Between 1 and 3 pm is optimal for napping.
