Neck flexor stretch

Neck flexor stretch

The neck flexors are also known as the prevertebral cervical muscles and they are responsible for keeping the neck stable, particularly when you bring your head forward. Although they’re very small muscles, they are hugely important to protect your cervical spine.

The neck flexors can get tight if you don’t stretch them. Practice the following stretch to relieve tension in your neck flexor muscles.

  1. Sit down comfortably and place your arms next to your body
  2. Keep your core muscles engaged to stabilize your spine
  3. Bring your shoulders back without tensing your body
  4. Bring your chin down to your chest and hold this position for 15 to 30 seconds.
  5. Repeat this stretch a total of three times.
