Overcoming fitness barriers: lack of motivation

Overcoming fitness barriers: lack of motivation

Working out and sticking to your training regime is fun and exciting when you're motivated. However, when this motivation starts to dwindle, the thought of working out becomes less exciting, and sometimes, something you begin to actively avoid. Loss of motivation is one of the most common fitness barriers and learning how to overcome it is key to your long-term success.

One strategy for overcoming a decline in motivation is to join an exercise group where other people can hold you accountable and offer motivational words of encouragement when you're struggling. Group exercise also provides a social component to exercise, which can further motivate you to get to the gym or head to an outdoor workout class because you'll have the opportunity to socialize with friends.
