Ready for a Challenge? How to Jump Rope
Jump rope training is one of the best ways to get fit. It’s fun, easy to pick up, and can be enjoyed with friends and family. Plus, it can increase your endurance and strength with as little as 10-15 minutes a day.
All you need to get started is a rope that is suitable for your height. You can also get weighted ropes if you want the extra challenge.
So, grab yourself a jump rope, and let’s get started!
The first thing you need to do is hold the jump rope symmetrically so that there is an equal distance of rope on either side from the centreline of your body. When you feel comfortable, start practicing with small jumps between 1-2 inches off the ground.
Land softly on the balls of your feet with each jump and keep your feet close together. There should be a slight bend in your knees to enable you to land without excessive force.
Try to keep your head up and your shoulders relaxed throughout, with your elbows close to your sides. Your hands and forearms should be the only things moving.
Following this technique when jumping rope will keep your joints safe and free of injury while challenging the muscles in new and exciting ways.
