The benefits of eating healthy

Eating healthy takes continuous effort and education. As your body changes, or goes through different experiences (for example, pregnancy or post-partum), what you need to eat will also change. Typically, it is recommended to focus on whole foods such as fruit, vegetables, or proteins. But why?
What you eat significantly impacts all areas of your physical and mental wellbeing.
Most people consider what they eat when they are trying to gain or lose weight. However, knowing what food you are putting into your body can also impact how you think, feel, and interact with others. For some, eating foods that have lots of sugar can make you feel good in the moment, but can cause a sugar crash later on, which might make you feel groggy, irritable, and unsatisfied. If you eat foods that are high in fat, it can impact your cholesterol over time, which puts you at greater risk for heart disease. However, foods like berries, walnuts, and fish can positively impact memory and brain function.
