Three Tips to Help Manage Portion Control

When it comes to weight loss, one of the best things that you can do is practice portion control. This doesn’t mean you need to count out every last chip or measure every gram of food that you eat. Portion control can even be enjoyable, and it’s a great way to establish healthy eating habits!

Here are three top tips to help you manage your portions without feeling overwhelmed so that you can reach your goals.

  • Use a smaller plate - the less room you have, the less food you will need to fill up your plate and the smaller your portions will be.
  • Load up on the vegetables first - it’s much harder to overeat vegetables than some other food groups. Loading your plate up with lots of vegetables will help you to cut back on the high caloric, higher fat foods.
  • Don’t pick at your leftovers - once you have finished your meal, try to stay away from the leftovers in the pan, and don’t pick at other people’s plates if they’ve left some of their food. Stick to the portion that you plated before dinner!
