What are polyphenols?
Polyphenols refer to a family of naturally occurring compounds that contain lots of chemical groups called phenols. The most abundant groups of polyphenols include flavonoids, tannic acid and ellagitannin.
Polyphenols are found in plants and are known to be very beneficial to humans. Regularly consuming polyphenols in your diet may improve your overall health. You can find polyphenols in a variety of different foods, including berries, nuts, seeds and olive oil. They're also found in cocoa beans and dark chocolate, coffee, beans and tea leaves.
