Visceral fat Visceral fat is abdominal fat that is stored deep in your body around the organs. In the average adult, it accounts for 10% of the total fat found in the body, with the other 90% being subcutaneous fat that resides just beneath the skin.

Having a high percentage  of visceral fat in your body increases the risk of you developing the following health conditions:

  • Heart disease

You can combat visceral fat with diet and exercise. Aim for a minimum of 30 moderately-intensive minutes of exercise each day and enjoy a nutritious diet rich in vegetables, fruit, whole grains and lean proteins.
