Self-care tips for parents

Self-care is supposed to feel good, but finding time for it can feel like just another task. Here’s how to work self-care into your routine without the stress:
- Rest when you can: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep, but if that's not realistic, find opportunities to rest when you can. A 15-minute power nap or even a 5-minute pause can help.
- Sneak in movement: Short bursts of activity count! Walk on your lunch break, bike with the kids, or take the stairs when possible.
- Keep meals simple: Quick, nutritious recipes make life easier. Prep veggies for easy snacks, or cook extra food for leftovers or freezing.
- Create self-care rituals: Routines make self-care effortless. Start or end your day with something calming, like reading with a coffee or tea, journaling before bed, or taking a warm bath.
- Stay connected: Plan outings when you can, but don’t underestimate small moments—text a friend, check in on social media, or have a quick chat in person.
- Be kind to yourself: Parenting has ups and downs. Acknowledge your efforts, and celebrate small wins.
Making small, intentional choices each day adds up, creating a healthier, happier environment for you and your family.
